Thayer Hut

“Thayer Hut”

Built between 1961 and 1965, the Thayer Hut sits on the Castner Glacier. Over the years, the glacier has receded, making it significantly more difficult to get to the hut. This is an incredible place to post up for some backcountry skiing - and you can make it a traverse by connecting it to the Lower Canwell Hut and the MacKeith Hut.
