Living in Alaska, one of my favorite summer activities was to surf the Boretide. What’s a Boretide? Think the entire tide, coming in twice a day in one big wave. Aka - you get one shot to surf. If you miss it, you’re out. If you fall, you’re done. But it sure is an epic adventure, and it’s how I learned to surf.
