'Solstice'
Solstice is a visual diptych capturing the rhythmic heartbeat of Anchorage, Alaska, through its two most extreme moments in light: the radiant embrace of the summer solstice and the long hush of the winter solstice.
In the first panel, summer stretches endlessly across the sky — a celebration of light, warmth, and motion. The city shimmers beneath a sun that barely dips below the horizon.
In contrast, the second panel captures the city, lit under the glow of the Northern Lights, where the sun appears only briefly — a visitor rather than a companion.
Together, these twin portraits reveal Anchorage not just as a place on the map, but as a living soul shaped by cycles of light and darkness. Solstice invites viewers to witness how a city endures, adapts, and transforms — held in the delicate tension between sun and shadow.
